Several of their paintngs found homes and are adding beauty and joy to the soul of their owners. They are happy to be home in time to celebrate Thanksgiving with Sylvia and Alexandra.

The Makk Family wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving.
May the spirit of the season bring you peace and happiness.

Makk Evenings On The Mainland!

Eva Makk and her son A.B. Makk have been enjoying sharing their Makk stories and artwork in many cities across the United States. Collectors have opened their doors and invited their friends to introduce Makk art into their lives. These evenings are fun as it is a rare opportunity to share wine and laughter with the artists in ones own home. Makk evenings are already being booked for Spring 2012 by those who just hosted them. See, I told you they were fun!

Makks At The Hope Ball In Denver - May 2011

Eva Makk and son A.B. Makk participated in the Cancer League of Denver's Hope Ball. Eva donated a painting for the live auction. It brought in the most amount of dollars ever for a piece of art donated to the annual function. Two articles about the event can be read by clicking on the links below:

Art Makes Us Happy

A report came out recently about how viewing art can increase our happiness or feel good index. Take a minute and watch this video http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/video/2011/may/11/art-makes-you-happy

You should buy art because it does something positive for you. Never let anyone talk you into buying a piece of art. It is a personal addition to your home or office, and something that you should enjoy for a very long time, pass down to the future generation.

I have seen people break down into tears while looking at art by various members of the Makk Family. It is quite humbling. Once I experienced a similar reaction to a painting by hubby, A.B. Makk. A tube arrived from a gallery which I proceeded to unwrap. I pulled the painting out of the tube and unrolled it. I had seen this painting in the Makk book "A Vision Of Life" but had never seen it first hand. I gasped as tears started to roll down my cheeks. A.B. rushed over and asked me what was wrong. Of course I babbled incoherently but finally blurted out how much I loved the painting and that an indescribable feeling washed over me. From that point on, I understood and understand how art can move a person to tears. The painting is not for sale. AND YES IT"S MINE! :)

Buy art that grabs your soul, makes your heart skip a beat, makes your knees knock. People have come back to us with a photo of a painting they saw years ago but did not buy for various reasons. In most cases the painting is no longer available so I try to find them something similar BUT it is never the same. Years ago, a young long haired man in ripped jeans looked at a piece of artwork in our gallery - he stared and stared  walked away and returned, stared some more and shook his head. I asked him what was wrong. He said he loved it but couldn't afford to buy as he was still a student. I told him he could pay what he could monthly as I know what it is like to see art that moves you. To make a long story short, it took him a few years but was very happy when he finally took delivery of the art. Tens years later at an art show in NYC, a debonair man in an Armani suit walked up to me and asked me if I recognized him. I stared and realized it was the long hair jean clad young man!!!! He thanked me for making it possible to buy the artwork. Most people would never have given a 19 year old the time of day, let alone a time payment opportunity. He was grateful I believed in him and would never forget it.

If you like something and can't pay it off all at once, we can talk about it. Remember, if the art calls your name, I can help you get it on your wall.

Buy art that grabs your soul, makes your heart skip a beat, makes your knees knock.

Aloha - Sylvia
